Friends Visit the Kiln

Friends of the Pembrokeshire National Park enjoyed a walk along the shore line at Hook last week and made a point of stopping off at the recently renovated Boggy Lane lime kiln. The kiln has been rebuilt by the Hook History Society with financial assistance from the Lottery funds’ Sharing Heritage scheme.

When the renovation work was being undertaken the Friends of the Park work party put in many hours clearing debris that had accumulated over many years and raking out crumbling stonework. The walk was led by National Park warden for the area, Hayden Garlick and members of the History Society were on hand to explain how the scheme was undertaken and the history of the kiln and associated mining industry.
