Historians' Donations

Following a year of activity in which a modest amount of funding has been accumulated the Hook History Society has donated £50 to three village organisations. Both Mount Zion Chapel and Hook Gospel Mission received the donation as a gesture towards the upkeep pf the cemeteries and the Trustees of the Miners Memorial Garden will put the gift towards the upkeep of the memorial to the men and women who toiled in the coal mining industry.

This is the second occasion the Society has made such a donation.

A spokesperson for the Society said, ”All three……the cemeteries and the Memorial…….are really important features of our past and often feature in research by those interested in the history of the locality.”
